PRAGUE 1 – places with atmosphere and tradition

The city district called Prague 1 is the oldest part of the capital as well as its centre and an area with the highest concentration of cultural monuments and popular tourist spots. Therefore it is not surprising that most of Prague 1 is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Among the most attractive sites of historical value is Staroměstské náměstí (Old Town Square), the popular Václavské náměstí (Wenceslas Square) and the busy Národní třída (National Avenue). Further locations that excel are the romantic Staré Město (Old Town) and Malá Strana (Lesser Town), panoramic Hradčany (Castle District), Josefov (Jewish Quarter) and Nové Město (New Town).

The Prague quarter that has for centuries preserved a special charm and is the most frequented spot by tourists is Malá Strana. Besides the inexhaustible number of historical landmarks it can also boast two beautiful parks.

Kampa Park is a true oasis of tranquillity, a picturesque islet separated from the noisy commercial city quarters and busy shopping centres. It is worth strolling through Prague’s Venice as is sometimes the name given to the islet, the romantic Vltava river embankment and together with other lovers of Prague’s history admire the magnificent Malá Strana palaces, imposing embassy residences and museums containing first-class collections of European art.

You will also be enraptured by Petřín, one of the most beautiful of Prague’s parks with a maze and stunning views of the majestic silhouette of Hradčany. The newly opened Prague Castle gardens also offer sufficient space for relaxation.

The grand construction of Karlovo náměstí (Charles Square), Václavské náměstí, Národní třída, the pedestrian zone in the street Na Příkopě (On the Moat) in Nové Město – these were built at a time when automobiles or trams were not even thought of. Today these prestigious addresses are the seats of international banks and multinational companies.

Housing in these parts, or more precisely in the centre of all Prague events, will satisfy above all individuals and childless couples enjoying their daily life well into the night. Besides the picturesque romantic alleys and nooks with their beautiful gardens and views of the city of a hundred spires, there are also an inexhaustible number of restaurants, bars, theatres and shopping areas headed by the famous Pařížská ulice (Paris Street) with its boutiques offering the most celebrated fashion brands.

Prague is truly a great place to live thanks to what it can offer its residents wonderful architecture, a rich history, a broad spectrum of cultural events ranging from classical music, opera, jazz and theatre to ethnic dance festivals.

It is great to live in the heart of a cosmopolitan city, several minutes’ walking distance from homely bakeries with a first-class reputation, from the Café Café, which is the gallery of Czech celebrities if “you want to see and be seen”, or from your favourite restaurant with a view of Prague Castle that looks like something out of a fairytale especially when lit up at night.

Global real estate experts compare the residential activity of Malá Strana to the most renowned world “golden” addresses and consider them to be the most prestigious location in Prague. Therefore the purchase of a residence in Malá Strana is an excellent investment opportunity.
